    Jerzy Buzek honored by the Conference of European Rabbis

    Prof. Jerzy Buzek received today the Lord Jakobovits Prize awarded by the Conference of European Rabbis. "He has been a friend of Jewish communities for years. As a Polish Prime Minister and European Parliament's president he has been constantly building bridges of understanding, decisively fought against anti-Semitism and acted for commemorating victims of Shoah" - said Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, CER's leader, justifying the award for Jerzy Buzek. "Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am grateful to the organisers for the invitation to speak at today's conference. I believe I am the only politician among today's panellists. This gives me a unique opportunity to share some remarks from the political point of view. And, as Member of the European Parliament, from the perspective of the EU as a whole.
